FIFA is testing goal-line technology
FIFA is happy with first results of tests on a modified ball design to improve goal-line technology. Initials trials in competition had gone very well.

The goal-line technology uses the intelligent ball with a microchip embedded inside it that relays a signal via sensors placed around the play-field to alert match officials if the ball crosses the line.
Goal-line technology has been tested in Peru, where the World under-17 championship has been played. FIFA will test it further at the World Club Championship in Japan in December.
If the ball will be used at next year’s World Cup in Germany will be decided on March 4 - made up of FIFA, the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish associations.
